Things To Remember Before You Try Online Math Tutoring For Your Child

First of all, what is online math tutoring? Online math tutoring is where a child can also learn through the internet with a one-on-one learning system. In this type of tutoring, teachers and students are different locations or just distant from each other. In online math tutoring, there is a virtual environment that is established between the teacher and student, this means that they are not exactly interacting with each other in person they are just connected by the virtual world.

These days online tutoring has become a really trendy thing, and a lot of parents are considering it. Here you will find some things to remember first before trying online math tutoring.

Identify your goals

Some of us just want to pass a test or exam or even a class or et some short term result and then their done, that’s what we all call a performance goal. There is another thing, if you really want to understand a specific thing and be able to transfer it to other situations, that’s called a learning goal.

Other parents mix performance and learning goals together for their child, though learning should be above performance. If the parent prioritizes learning the child can perform better, it will happen on its own pace.

Look carefully at the tutor’s actions

Good tutoring is not just about the tutor teaching your child. There is a way to make tutoring more effective than just sitting silently while the tutor goes on with his lesson, a student should be presently involved.

You should also listen carefully when the tutor is teaching your child. One of it is if a student does something right, the tutor would respond with “ Good Job! “ Here the question, after the tutor says that do they move on or asks the student some follow up question? If the tutor asks, follow up questions, the better! The student would understand it better.

Don’t forget free options

Before you decide to go straight to paid tutoring services, it would be better to explore free options.

This includes an afterschool help from a classroom teacher, join tutoring programs at school or join tutoring programs from city libraries or even community centers. A paid tutoring includes one-on-one learning or online tutoring, these are offered by companies that hire lots of tutors.

Do things on your own at home

When your child is struggling with something like reading, Read with your child and tell him what these words mean. You should also let them notice you reading books or magazines, you should adopt the love of reading and make a regular reading schedule.

If your child struggle with math, try finding enjoyable ways he can learn math with games or apps. You might not believe it, but doing math with your child also benefits them more if you too sometimes get anxious about math. If you can’t really understand their work, make them justify their work out loud. If you make them reflect on their work, a child can understand more, even if a tutor or a parent doesn’t give them a lot of information.
